In my first steps towards establishing the origins of "Cathren Ross", wife of William Lee, both of whom seem to be characters in my lineage who are difficult to pin to any historical documentation, I have come across this book on Google Books. (see below) In a footnote including information on Hopewell Meeting and the descendants of Alexander Ross and Katherine Chambers, there is a line which states that she was unmarried. One could deduct that this means she was unmarried at the date of the parents death, or that at the publication by the author, he had found no record of marriage.

from book title: "Historical, Genealogical, and Biographical Account of the Jolliffe Family of Virginia, 1652 to 1893: Also Sketches of the Neill's, Janney's, Hollingsworth's, and Other Cognate Families (Google eBook)
William Jolliffe
J.B. Lippincott, 1893 - Virginia - 245 pages"
There is no reference in the book to birth events for the children.
------------
I have found elsewhere some mention of Catherine marrying a Stewart (surname), but no mention of children. Also in other sources, the birth date for Catherine, daughter of Alexander Ross has been put in the year 1724, quite a bit older than our Cathren who is supposed to have been born in 1741.
I look forward to finding any information which can pinpoint this person in historical documentation.
