Any idea where I can find something about my second great uncle, all I have is a letter that was send from Cape Town William John Miller

Anne-Marie there are a few Ernst Mulders. When my kids go back to the USA after the short visit I will ask one of my research friends there.
Judi

Judi, alvast bedankt dat zou heel fijn zijn, enjoy your time with the kids :)

Hi Anne-Marie, Ernst Johannes Mulder was my great great grandfather. He moved to South Africa and married. He changed his name to William John Miller, I don't know if you are aware but his sister married into the kallieshoek family in Rotterdam. If you have any specific questions about the South African family I will try to answer them for you.

Vivienne

Vivienne Ross YES !!!! His sister was married to my great grandfather Joseph Kalishoek , THAT IS HIM! I just wondered what happened to him, I have a photograph of my great grandfather that was supposed to be send to Johannes with text on the back that is how I know that he went to SA. Did not know he was married or anything, this is great news Ernst Johannes was my second great uncle, I also have a picture of his sister Frederika Johanna Catharina Frederika Mulder That means we are family

I have filled in some of the data on my tree here but please note I am having trouble confirming some of the information (South African records can be very patchy). my main tree is on Ancestry.com.au.

Vivienne Ross

I am wondering which Capetonian Ross you are. My mother had a family friend by name of Cissie Ross with whom she travelled to the ?UK on a pretty regular basis. From memory Cissie had a daughter by name of Audrey. Ring a bell at all ?

Hi Pam,

Ross is my married name, my mother was a Miller(Mulder). My husbands family were in London from the mid 1800's and before that they were from Scotland. My maiden name is Lilley both my parents were born in Cape Town but I was born in Southampton, Hampshire, England. There are quite a number of the Ross family still in London but unfortunately I have never come across the names Cissie or Audry.

I had a friend named David Ross. A great marathon runner. Tragicly killed a few years ago.
Would love to link him somewhere.
Judi

Here is my Dave Ross.

There is a Ross/Muilder connection in my tree. A Louis Mulder, I believe my great great grandfather married Mary Ann Ross at St George's Cathedral, Cape Town, in 1850.
