I was doing some clean up in the Chase line and noticed this conflict on Ensign Rogers. I figured it might be best to have a quick discussion to clear it up, add any documents, and for Ben to add a curator note after resolution to avoid future confusion.
Parents:
* Elisha Rogers & Rachel Rogers
* Moses Rogers, Sr. & Thankful Rogers
I find this document, which lists Ensign born in Dennis (not Eastham) on June 9, 1790 as the son of Elisha Rogers

Moses Rogers, Sr. & Thankful Rogers appear to be from Eastham (marriage) but moved to Orrington, Maine.

I find this document, which lists Ensign born in Orrington, Maine on Feb. 20, 1786 as the son of Moses Rogers, Sr. & Thankful Rogers

I find this FindAGrave with the proper location and death, Dec. 15, 1825, which lists Ensign born Feb. 24, 1786 as the wife of Charity Rogers and son of Moses Rogers, Sr..

I found no FindAGrave for Charity Rogers in Barnstable, though she's reportedly buried in Baptist Church Cemetery, Harwich according to her profile. Here is a marriage index, though it doesn't indicate parents: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FCSM-KYL
Based on location, my guess is that this Ensign is the son of Moses Rogers, Sr., born on June 9, 1790 in Dennis.
Crap - I deleted my last post because I made a mistake in it too.. so here it is reposted. haha
Ahh! My last sentence is a mistake! I was using the linking by profile id and linked the wrong person. I intended to write that my guess is that he is the son of Elijah Rogers, not Moses Rogers
Also, Ensign and Charity were married in Dennis, and the children are from Barnstable. So while it is possible the Seaman, Elijah, sailed down from Orrington, it seems likely to me that we're looking at the Elijah born in Dennis.
Private User, thanks, I'll disconnect Moses and Private User can make a note. I wouldn't call it a bad merge :) It was the same family, Nancy just had different parents listed. While a pain, this is often the great part about the world tree as we can identify the common mistakes and properly document it.
Charity Rogers I have these documents marriage /birth records for most of this line. I have many Ancestors in Orringhton Maine but it this case it is not one of them,. Thank you for the corrections .
Just to link the profile to this discussion, here is the new profile I created for Ensign Rogers, son of Moses Rogers, Sr. & Thankful Rogers.
You may object, but I like to add "... of <location>" in the Display Name in instances like this where you have two Ensign Rogers that have been merged incorrectly and are likely to be susceptible to bad merges in the future.
Unfortunately even MP and Curator's Notes don't work 100% of the time to prevent such merges.
