William Shelton - Parents of William

Can you cut and paste a link to the source of the information into his Overview? We can cut the parent or at least indicate that this is disproved, although probably widely believed.

Is there any indication that they could figure out who his parent is or have a good hypothesis?

There are a couple of curators who work on VA so I have alerted one of them.

I will have to get the link from our cousin Tina Hall. So far the our William's descendents DNA has not matched with any other Shelton DNA groups, so his paternal parent has not been located. We have a group on Facebook if any other of William's descendents are interested in collaborating. It is "William and Hannah Yates Shelton (1740) of Dan River Genealogy" Tina is on there and can explain much better than I but her general comment was that Ralph's (and Crispin's) lines have 9 in the 5th position and William's line do not.

I have made William's profile into MP with a statement that DNA may prove that he is not the son of Crispin.

Genette, please put some evidence on the profile and I will remove Crispin and Letitia as his parents We don't need to know who the correct parents are in order for me to make this change, but, since it's such a widely held belief, I need to have something others can access before I make the change.

The Facebook group mentioned by Genette is a closed group, requiring descend from William and Hannah Yates Shelton to get in.
