written by Adrian C. Leiby; paperback edition, 2nd printing, revised edition ISBN 0-8135-0898-3

As the subtitle suggests, this book chronicles the involvement of the Jersey Dutch during the period 1775-1783.
On topic of interest is the religious strife that grew out of a split in congregations leading up to the war: the so-called conferentie and coetus schism.
The book is well indexed and might serve as a guide for genealogists interested in northern NJ Dutch families.
Dr. Beekman van Beuren, patriot physician (and his brother James are two metioned. This is why I originally purchased the book.

I am certain that those interested in Col. Joseph Ryerson and his family would also find this book illuminating.

There are quite a few families represented:
Lawrence Van Buskirk (& 13 other family members), for instance.

It is possible to preview this book online.

In addition, there are 6 single spaced pages of reference works cited, something that is a boon for the researcher looking for such works.

This remark is also very welcome on the project:

Maybe it's time to translate the explanation on that page, but till now it was just for Dutch reading books, you see?
