That's a good question, Lois.
The SmartCopy utility picks up (some) of citations from external trees (FindAGrave, Rootsweb, Ancestry.com, MyHeritage) and inserts them in the Geni profile "overview" with transparency back to the source for the citation.
With a MyHeritage data subscription, SmartCopy can cite within in the profile overview "and also," RecordMatch links the document.
Both of these are separate from downloading / uploading to the Geni profile and using the document functions to "source cite."
Hope that's clear.
re: "inserts them in the Geni profile "overview" with transparency back to the source for the citation" -- does this mean folks without an Ancestry Membership be able to see the Sources on Ancestry?? Or ???
Does having a MyHeritage Data Subscription make any difference at all for sources from Ancestry?
To give it another try in words.
- I have access to Ancestry.com. I can use SmartCopy to copy public member trees. Those trees may have attached to them documents from ancestry (or other sources); those documents are cited but not viewable in the original unless manually downloaded / uploaded - unless you "also" have ancestry.com access and thus can follow the citation back to the repository.
(That should be clear enough for ya!)
