My grandfather, Josef Meissner. apparently was born in or around Aussig, AKA Usti Nad Labem, on July 22, 1856. My father, Karl Meissner, was their second child and first son. He was born in the town in 1877-1878. The family emigrated to New York City in 1899. I'm trying to do some genealogical research. I live in Arizona currently. Any information would be extremely helpful. I am curious why they may have emigrated and of course what happened to ay relatives who may have remained when the Nazis took control when they reclaimed the Sudatenland.
