The Padillas in the Philippines were mostly descendants of Luis Ortiz de Padilla who came via the Spanish Galleon in 1642 via the Grsn Canarias, but originally from Madrid.
They settled in Penaranda, Bulacan. They have descendants who are were movie stars in the silver screen: Jose and Carlos Padilla. One descendant Silverio Padilla went to Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, and it is from him that I descended.
My uncle Sinforoso Padilla was the Dean of Men, at UP, and another uncle, Benito Padilla, was a professor there of Western Civilation.
If you want more information, please let me know about your ancestry, and I will search my database for you.

Illustrated transcripts, probably from the late 19th or early 20th century, of 16th- and 17th-century documents from archives in Manila and Lisbon concerning the history and ethnography of the Philippines between 1522 and 1659. "Talismanes de los yndios philipinos" (90 p.), compiled by Luis Ortiz de Padilla and dated in Jan. 10, 1639 in Manila, is an illustrated, descriptive inventory of talismans in the archives of the Audiencia of Manila, confiscated from Filipino criminals. "Viajes por mar y tierra" (266 p.), dated 1659, contains descriptions of the native peoples of the Philippine islands visited by Portuguese galleons between 1523 and 1563, compiled from original documents in the Archivo Real de Lisboa by Antonio de Fucar. Other documents include a list, dated 1540, of printed and ms. documents in the archives of the Real Audiencia de Manila, compiled by archivists Juan de Yrigoyan and Esteban Rigay (52 p.); and an alphabetical list, compiled in 1631 by Balthasazar de Lerma, of encomenderos in the Philippines from 1571 to 1630, giving age, personal description, place of birth, education, and accomplishments of each grantee (80 p). Father Ignacio de Alcina's "Album histórico social de Filipinas," dated in Manila in 1639, possibly a misdated excerpt from his Historia de los islas e indios visayas," describes various aspects of early Philippine native society, including weapons, crafts, medicine, homes, modes of transportation, religious belifes, burial customs, music, and commerce.

Hi Eli. I'm looking for the ascendants of this Padilla branch. Daniel Santiago Padilla

I hope we can "reunite" them with other Padillas as they have lost the memory of their lolo Daniel's parents.

Drew
