The link for Ralph Josselyn to the Lord Mayor of London was already in place when I connected him to my tree. If there are facts that prove this is not the case I am happy to see them amended, and I seem to remember coming across a very detailed archive for this family who appeared to marry into the same branches of cousins on a regular basis. Armed with that fact and the repetitive use of the same christian names I think it highly likely that there has been a misunderstanding. Please let me know what you discover.
Cheers
Andrew.
Terry,
Of course you are right. I am fairly sure that I have seen this person identified as Lord Mayor of London on another pedigree, presumably the Wisemans, but the dates can hardly fit. I doubt whether anyone even then could have become Lord Mayor before he was (say) 35 years old (40 more likely) so the Ralph who became Lord Mayor in 1464 and 1476 would have had to be about 70 or more before he fathered the children ascribed to him. At a quick glance I can't see anyone else in the family tree who is a better candidate for Lord Mayor, though, or any particular reason to doubt that the Lord Mayor is part of this family.
Do the heraldic visitations shed any light?
Mark
I agree with all of you these dates do not make any sense i think more research needs to be done .....hopefully we all can figure this one out....i always try to look at death and birth records or if there is something recorded or documented in a old book of some sort some of the profiles are guesses like this one....happy hunting.....Beverly Skidmore Petrice and thanks everyone for your help thus far.....
In that case it is the same family. Here, it seems, is yer man:
Sir Ralph Josselyn, KB, Lord Mayor of London
Makes more sense.

Ha! You're on the ball Mark! I only just just added that profile about 5minutes ago. The tree there is also somewhat messy so I started anadded that profile about 5minutes ago. The tree there is also somewhat messy so I started another discussion :
Geoffrey Josselyn, Jr.
Dear Terry,
Now you are going to ask me why I haven't proposed myself as curator, as I'd promised. The answer is that my computer is so shot through with viruses that it will not even save dates. But, it seems, the same viruses allow me free access to "stirnet", a useful if not perfect resource, which other computers don't. So I'm reluctant to wipe the hard disk, which it needs, and am waiting until I can regularly work from two laptops in parallel.
