One of the first things we need to determine about Gottlieb is his parent's place of birth. If his family is truly Dutch, his name would be "van Natta" or "van Atta" and not Von or von. The preposition in the name would be "van" if he were Dutch but it would be "von" if he were German or Austrian.
Capitalizing the preposition is an American thing and didn't start until sometime in the 1800's.
I'm told the double "n" a the end of van and beginning of Natta is not common. The name might actually be van or von Atta.
