This is actually posted by Gary Perlman, amateur genealogist volunteering at Maimonides for Jacob Shechtman.

Gerald Shechtman recalled that Hillel had a sister, Chaitze (spelling?), who married Sam Silver. Sam owned the Trader's Manufacturing Co (TMC), a clothing manufacturing company on Mt Royal at the corner of City Hall (Hotel de Ville).

First, a little background. I have not seen Hillel's grave, but understand that it is with the name Hillel Schreiber, even though he never changed his name as his nephew Hymie (Harold) did. But Hillel's gravestone should show his father as the same as Harris' gravestone: Zev. If we found a gravestone for Chaitze, it should list Zev as her father. Haris was born 1876, Hillel 1866, so Chaitze might have been born 1860-1880

I found nothing for Chaitze, nor a few variations. Looking for Sam Silver is a problem because it is a very common name, and it could also be Samuel. There are 10 Sam[uel] Silver graves in Quebec (there might be ore, ones that are not in an online database). Two are in the Back River Cemetery, the same as Hillel and Harris (and Moses, a possible brother), but not the same section. The sections correspond to burial societies associated with synagogues. One Samuel Silver died in 1920, so he was not involved with TMC. The other lived 1905-1984, and was probably too young to be the right Samuel.

In the Lovell's Montreal Directory, we can trace Trader's Manufacturing Co (TMC). Lovell's lists the officers, and then we can look up the officers to find their home address, which will conveniently list their employment.

1920 TMC exists at 128 Bleury: Mgr Wm Craven
1930 TMC Rm 706 3575 St Lawrence prop S Silver (644 Wiseman, Outremont)
1940 TMC 4517 Hotel de Ville prop S Silver (644 Wiseman)
1949 TMC 4517 Hotel de Ville prop S Silver (632 Dollard)
1949 Voter List has Sam (manufacturer) at 632 Dollard, with Mrs. Silver and two female manufacturers (daughters?) Mae, Violet
1955 TMC on Hotel de Ville, two residences: 632 Dollard and 5168 Clark
1957-58 TMC on HdV, residence at 632 Dollard
1959 TMC on HdV, but no Sam residence
1960-61 no TMC, not Sam Silver

There were several mentions of a Mae Silver in the Canadian Jewish Review, but none with other family members named.

There was a Sol Silver, son of a Sam Silver, but without sisters Mae or Violet: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/montrealgazette/obituary.aspx?n=so...

Some alternative names for Chaitze might help.

Better weather would allow visiting the graves of Sam Silver to look for an adjacent wife who is a daughter of Zev.
