Would appreciate any info on this surname. My branch of this family originated as Flemick in Prussia, and often changed back and forth between Flemick and Fleming on census records. There appears to be some historical connection between either Flanders (Flemish people being referred to as Flemisch, Flemich in German dialects) or a Czech/slavic name Flamek. Given what little I know of my family in Prussia, either possibility is plausible. I would love to hear from kin with this surname living in Germany, Poland or Czechoslovakia.
