He was a devout Christian man, of the "foot washing" Baptist variety. A member of Mount Mariah Baptist Church in Blount County. Some of my mother's (Robbie D. Wright) earliest memories were of sitting at his feet listening to him read scripture. They were also known to share watermelon plucked direct6ly from the vine during their gadabouts. He'd cut a notch so she could drink the juice from the rind. She followed him everywhere, "helping" with the farm chores. He was also a master mason in the Masonic Lodge.
