Hi Robin,
Sorry it was not too clear. I was typing as I was searching and did not go back to clean it up any. John was a Schill. Nicolas Medinger died sometime before the birth of his son Nicolas Medinger 2 Mar 1851 and several years before John Schill was born.
The Schill and Meddinger childern:

I wenmt ahead and looked for and found the death record for Nicolas Medinger:
His death was recorded 16 Jan 1851 in Flaxweiler

It mentions his widow, Barbara Engel, at the end of line 12.
