I need help researching the pedigree of Robert Gregson, English Boxing Champion, born July 21, 1778, at Heskin, three miles from Chorley, and ten from Preston, Lancashire, UK, died November 1824. He married Ester Owen, died 1806. A bust of the English Boxing Champion Robert Gregson is located in the Royal Academy and few men were as well known in the sporting circles of London. He had three daughters, Henrietta Cowley (1804-1882) married James Cowley of Upper Widnes House (Widnes Hall), Mary Ann Gregson (1802-1848) heiress, and Ester Gregson (1806-1878) known as "Sister Scholastica" at Abbots Salford Convent purchased Stanbrook Abby Convent, where she was Abbess. The early history of the Gregson family lineage is well documented in English history, but I have not been able to locate the parents of Robert Gregson. Any suggestions?
