How to add a totally new person without any ties yet

Make a sibling to yourself and then disconnect that sibling from parents.

Voila! Brand new tree started.

how do i disconnect it? i tried to remove the relationship, but it only gives a red error and the remove button is not active imo: " Warning: Removing these connections will split the tree."

maybe i should add a child to myself and later merge that with other people when i find them?

On some screens (especially laptops), the Remove button is hidden off the bottom of the screen and you have to scroll down. (I have a lot of trouble with this.)

As for the Warning, just ignore it. It's only meant to make you stop and think.

If the Remove button is actually greyed out - then I don't know, it might be a Customer Service issue.

It would be more helpful if Geni replaced the warning with
'Removing these connections will split the tree - this function is available to members with a Pro subscription'.

Didn't realize it was Pros-only. O_o

Commencing a new tree (other than your own) is a Pro feature.
