Hi We have traced William Rosser to the district of Gloucestershire born here in 1817. we believe that he was on the convict ship Waterloo that sunk off the coast in the Cape of Good Hope on the 28 August 1842, he was thought to have drowned, but we believe in the confusion on shore, managed to escape and married a woman by the name of Maryna Hendrina Maria Cordier in Ladismith Cape Province on the 2nd November 1851.On the same day in the same church a Mr Brookes (the name of another convict thought to have drowned on the Waterloo)married Maryna Cordier s widowed mother Anna Petronella ( nee Hartman, nee Cordier). i wonder if any one could verify this story, or let me have information on the William Rosser born 17 May 1817 Gloucestershire Forest of Dean, Died 25 January 1892 Boschluiskloof, Gamkaskloof.
