William Lee, of Derry - Yet another different William Lee

Most of it is unverified infodump, but some of it has cross-checked with other sources (William Lee from Derry stowing away to the US, marrying Susannah Pike, becoming a Quaker, etc).

To be perfectly clear, the stowaway was the son of William and Jane (who may have emigrated themselves later - times were getting hard in Ireland, though not as hard as they were to get in the late 1840s).

is some one getting this lee mixed up with the lee's of va?

Somebody has bad information on antecedents - I've disentangled three different William Lees so far.

When you see them with different sets of descendants going in different directions, it's a bit easier to figure out that they're not all one big happy family. :-D

So does Dorothy Taylor belong to this family and not to William of Ulster? I'm a bit confused now.

Actually the "real McCoy" Dorothy Taylor (the "also Mrs. Croucher" one) belongs with William Lee of Richmond.

*One* extra Dorothy Taylor might be coincidence. More than one is bad research.

Parents of William Lee of Derry should be "Unknown".

Yes it looks like they went around attaching Dorothy Taylor to everyone named William Lee :)

Has anyone gone to Derry to try to find more info on the antecedents of William Lee of Derry b1729? (my 5th gr grandfather, I believe)

It would be interesting to see what records people have come across in Derry for the two William's.

William Lee 1730 in Derry, Ulster, Ireland and Suzanna Pike

If i had the opportunity, I would mostly search out presbyterian records during the time of Plantation of Ulster of the later 1600's of english and Scottish migrants.
