Currently, non-notable soldiers of the Confederate States Army (CSA) are added to the project http://www.geni.com/projects/Confederate-States-Army/11452. The image identifying that project is a military belt buckle from a CSA uniform. If no other image is available for a profile, using that belt buckle would, at least, be consistent with the project.

As noted in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniforms_of_the_Confederate_States_mil..., uniforms were frequently non standardized due to shortages. The most commonly used uniforms, insignia, etc., are shown in this article.
