My mum, Johanna O’Sullivan, was born in Ireland, February 24, 1928. She had three brothers, Michael, John, and Donal, and two sisters, Mary and Vera. After being schooled at the hands of tough, disciplinarian nuns, Joan arrived in Sheffield, England, to become a nurse. She ended up a theater sister, handing the surgeon his tools and running the operating room, making sure all was right for a successful surgery.
