Not sure why this line has been broken?? The families arms clearly are this family's tree.

Ian,
Please feel free to take over management for the profiles I added ---Maj Hugh and son, Maj John... The reason they may be separate is because we started a new profile for Major John Montgomery who was the husband of Margaret Dunbar (already in system with children, just no husband listed!!!) [Maj. John Montgomery]. His Father was added since we had info on him... I think Erica added the coat of arms... feel free to change it if you know for sure that it is Maj. John's (1665-1721) or Hugh's.
This Maj. John Montgomery is my 5th cousin 11 times removed, so if you have a closer relationship feel free to take over working on his line... I moved him because where his profile was didn't match the info in his profile--we had 2 different men. Then after getting this profile created where it should be and working on the other profile, I found that the William Montgomery I had spent almost a wk on getting things cleaned up for him wasn't the Alexander I (1705)'s father after all, hence a discussion about his father/parents... Erica disconnected the William & Isabella (Burnett) as his parents based on DNA results--William was heplogroup J & Alex I was "I".
I hope this helps some. Feel free to change the coat of arms if appropriate.
The Montgomery line is soooooooo frustrating!!! Tooooo many Alexanders, Williams and even Johns!!!

I think I got this connected back up right. Can you check?
To request management, go to profile view > actions menu > management options > request to add as manager.
As you know there are different Montgomery lines (I think you're a double, triple or more ...)
William of Brigend got smerged (smush / merge) into the wrong Montgomery line. So we had to recreate. I moved over your documents.
For reference, the Montgomery DNA project is

Erica,
Thanks for your input, much better than mine!!!
Just checked the DNA project site you mentioned and looked down the line to see if there were any other Montgomerys that I have in my system... Came across Robert Cicero ("son" of Alex II) he wasn't a natural son if he was considered as such by the family. His DNA haplogroup was R1b1a. Then looked further and found Roger de Montgomerie and found we (Alex I, II) aren't a descendant of him either!!! Darn!!!
