Must a profile be merged when it is incorrect? Can it be deleted?

Attached to the profile Boson II d'Arles, comte d'Arles are two wives, Boson II d'Arles, comte d'Arles and Boson II d'Arles, comte d'Arles. The former, in English, is a master profile. The latter, in German, was suggested for a merge. But I rejected it; because it could also be the daughter and includes very little information. Now, I see no way to remove the second profile. Is the recommended procedure to merge the two and default to the master (which has supporting documentation)?

Sorry, bbcode gone wrong. The two wife profiles are Constance and Unknown Profile .

People do it both ways, although technically it would be vandalism (and very bad manners) to delete someone else's profiles.

In this case, they are both wives of the same man so they are obviously the same person. Easier to merge them and let the manager become a co-manager of the main profile.
