I am restoring the old Finger Plantation that is said to be know as that years and years ago and still known as that today For years Clifford and Mildred McClain lived their which is my husbands great aunt and uncle and I was told Columbus Finger worked for and was friends with him , I would LOVE to know more about this and see pictures if their is any ! the house is on Vervilla Rd in Morrison TN . I know Ms Mattie and her parents are buried right up the road at the Old Philadelphia Cemetery , this house has been in my family for 70 plus years and was built in 1850 and the other day when I asked a historian if he knew anything he said "oh yeah that's the old Finger Plantation my email is kara_helton@yahoo.com and my phone is 931-635-2525 Thank You !!

Hello Kara! I was very happy to receive your message regarding the restoration of the original plantation! Your project is of great interest to me! I am related to Mattie Finger through both of her parents! Her mother Della Brown (my mother's paternal grandfather's sister) married Sam Finger (whose father was a brother to my mother's maternal great, great grandfather)! I knew cousin Mattie Finger very well as she would take us fishing when we were children. I was devastated many years ago to learn of her death and even more devastated to learn that all of her possessions were sold at auction, even her photos! Boxes and boxes of them. What I wouldn't do to get my hands on them. In any event, I do have some photos of She and her siblings and possibly one of her mother (Not 100% sure about that one yet). They were given to me many years ago by her niece who lived in Detroit. I would love to visit the old house some day soon to get an idea where the Fingers lived. Although I live in Cincinnati I visit McMinnville regularly. I will give you a call very soon and I also want to make sure you have my number as well which is 513-289-5829. Hello Mr Gray ,
Do you remember talking to me last year at the first of September? We discussed the Finger plantation in Vervilla TN in Warren County and about it possibly being the Finger plantation . Today I had the TN state historian and the dept head of a collage in Murfreesboro TN (MTSU) and a young girl getting her masters in history came to see my old house and take pictures and try and help me research it and learn more about it . Of course when I learned they wanted to come and bring the TN state historian I was ecstatic !!! Still am on cloud 9 but they had already done some research and said that my home and farm has a real good chance of it being the Finger plantation and they are gone keep searching till they find all they can. Hope this enlightens you as it has me . Keep in touch
