Does anyone want to give input on who we show as Desiderius' father, if anyone?

On the profile=There is some doubt about his parentage.
Betham, the most reliable authority, calls him a son of Erminulphus, who was son of Alachisis.
James Anderson, an 18th century collector of genealogical traditioins, calls him a son of Severus.

Better source verification of parentage than this [http://genealogiequebec.info/testphp/info.php?no=21802] is required.=

The two options: Sévère di Lombardia & Unknown Profile

Tough decision. I think the better option would be to cut the parents and show the two alternatives, with links, in the overview.

Personally I would prefer Ermenulph, because Betham is later and would have been familiar with Anderson's work. But it's a stretch to call Betham "the most reliable authority". He lived right at the beginning of the transition from "collecting" to "scholarship". Without knowing Betham's source, I would put him in the same category as Anderson.

i would cut the parents and i agree with Justin i prefer Ermenulph

Desiderius (Didier), dei Longobardi
son of Sévère di Lombardia =son of Alachisus de Lombardie
Ermenulph= Son of Alachius

Martin RhNegativ,
Are you pointing out that both of their fathers have very similar names, & suggesting they might be the same person?

What do we know about Alachius de Lombardie & Unknown Profile?

for my mesage i wanted to let you see i think an error the two parents are a son...must be an error

if we look collateral tree it can help ..geneanet is a good source too Sharon :)

Yes, the two men are intended to be the same.

So, Sévère di Lombardia & Ermenulph are brothers?

Yes. Supposedly.
