Abe is my 8th cousin 5x removed. My second great grandfather, Stephen Green Eubank, supposedly lived at the Globe Tavern during the time Abe, his wife Mary and their son Robert lived there, between 1842 and 1844. Abe also defended a legal case for Stephen and his second wife, Mary Ann Phillips, who was a cousin of William Herndon (Abe's law partner) in Springfield, Illinois, in 1838. Learned this at the Abraham Lincoln Library in Springfield. There is actually a website which shows all of the legal cases Lincoln handled while he was a practicing attorney in Springfield before becoming an elected official in Illinois and later President of the United States. Another family rumor says Stephen and his son, James Joseph Eubank, built cabinets and a desk for Lincoln. Stephen and James were both carpenters.
