The Jewish Families of Poland http://www.geni.com/projects/Polish-Jewish-Families/18110 project continues to grow. This is an umbrella project for family specific projects for Poland. If I have missed any please either add them or let me know.
Seth Morgulas Super!
Just one question. Do you want ancillary projects
to be added to the overarching Poland Umbrella Project, or should they be added only to the specific umbrella town project once it is created?
eg.
http://www.geni.com/projects/Jewish-Communities-of-Poland/18109
e.g. Częstochowa (no town project exists yet, but there are two excellent projects area related.
1. http://www.geni.com/projects/Częstochowa-Ghetto/11035
2. http://www.geni.com/projects/The-Broniatowski-Family-Legacy/9558
Malka Mysels I think it is better if I create a project for the town and then put those two projects under them. I will take care of it when i get home tonight. We can also do something in the umbrella project like:
* Czestochowa . See also Czestochowa Ghetto and The Broniatowski Family
and add the links there too.
I like the way this is going Seth Morgulas and Malka Mysels. I have several town and Gubernia projects for NE Poland bordering Lithuania.
Przerosl (town), Suwalki (Gubernia), Lomza (Gubernia).
Hatte Anne Blejer and Pam Karp If you come across any town projects for Poland that I have missed in adding to th umbrella let me know. Same goes for the umbrella for family projects for Polish Jewish Families, http://www.geni.com/projects/Polish-Jewish-Families/18110 I think I found everything out there, but if you come across something i missed let me know.
Pam, I sent you an invite to the http://www.geni.com/projects/Jewish-Families-of-Czestochowa/24102 project.
M.R. : Go to ACTIONS (top right of the profile) click on ADD TO PROJECT. Select the project name that appears from the responsive check box and then DONE.
You can also add from a profile (if the profile has no projects associated with it yet) by clicking the Projects link on the lower right of the profile and selecting the appropriate project (assuming you have joined the project already)
Finally you can add profiles from the project page by going to the actions tag, selecting add profiles and beginning to type names you want to add.
I've made a couple of additions. While projects on families are great, a lot of times what helps people is seeing the surnames of the other families in the same regions, the marriages, etc.
I was at a Bar Mitzvah where I knew only the parents, the grandparents, and the uncles. I drove all the way to Pittsburgh for it. They sat me at a long table with people I didn't know.
A nice younger father was there and I asked where his family was from. He said something approximating "Lomza". I asked if that might be the Gubernia of Lomza and then asked his surname. He said "Kolko". I told him that seemed familiar to me. I pulled out my iPhone and brought up the project on the Gubernia of Lomza on Geni -- He looked at the families and said, hey, I have Goldstok too. I said hey, I'm a Goldstok descendant! When I got back to the hotel to my iPad, I got on Geni and looked for Goldstok and Kolko. This guy was EVEN in my family tree because of a merge with an Israeli tree. He was my 4th cousin.
You can add your family here Private User
I will invite you to the project and add Cohen. I tend to work on the area of Lomza that is not as close to Ostrolenka. It would be good to expand the project more.
