My father, Hugh Lloyd Turner had three siblings: Eunice Turner Peace, Thomas Davis Turner, and Jared Young Turner. There is a tombstone in the Castor cemetery (where other Turner/ Stanly relatives are buried) with the name Samuel Neal Turner, JR. It is close to other Turners, but not with Samuel Neal and Elizabeth Stanly Turner in their family plot. My father said that Jr. was a designation that elsewhere would be Samuel Neal Turner II - as he was named for my grandfather, Samuel Neal Turner I. But he was not my grandfather's son! Jr. in that location at that time did not mean "son of" but meant that he had the same name as his older relative. This inaccuracy was included in a book on the Turner family by Geneva Byrd who did not live in the Vernon Parish area of Louisiana, but went to Castor cemetery and made a list of grave sites. When we corresponded with her about this inaccuracy, she said she had just assumed that Jr. meant "son of" - but that is not correct. She had no way to correct her already published book! Please don't list this man as a sibling to my father Hugh and to Eunice, Thos. Davis, and J. Y. Turner.
