Martin, I find a family profile and add the branch until I reach the person/profile I wish to add. Yes, it is a longer path, but I don't need anyone else and can keep going on my time. I found the surname de Montcalm - Gazon from around 1500 listed . . . .

Martin - for what it's worth it's my method also. I start with what I know, and build (usually up tree, parent by parent) until I match correctly with an existing tree, and merge the branch in.

It's all good though.

It doesn't matter "which ever" way that works for you. Just dig in & keep going . . . . "if" it at all helps after you have gotten a new profile added, I can research in the program for matches and attach to the new profile.
