The aim of this project is not only to have a list of castles in Ireland but more importantly to collect the names of the people who built or occupied the castles.
Every castle name has the names of the people mentioned, the idea is to create or/and collect the profiles of these castle dwellers, many will already exist on Geni others need to be created .

If you can get your hands on the following book by Corks own James N Healy R.I.P. Title "The Castles of County Cork"

he
gives location and detailed description of many many castles unknow today as there is only in some cases a mound of earth left visible.
