I think you have the wrong Carel.
The one you referred to must be Karel Hercules Jacobus van Aswegen
Karel Hercules Jacobus van Aswegen, a1b1c5d2e6f5g3
He and his younger brother Willem Jacobus van Aswegen wWillem Jacobus van Aswegen, a1b1c5d2e6f5g5
was caught on 7 September 1900 at Fouriesburg and send to Diyatalwa camp in Ceylon.
During the Boer War they were under General Prinsloo
Willem Jacobus van Aswegen died of typhoid fever in Ceylon 23 December 1900 and was buried in Ceylon
His Death Notice A231.
