I've been contacted by someone who wants to make one of my relative's profile into a master profile. Would I lose editing privileges? Would I retain the rights to my photos of him?

No, you will not loose control, - unless the profile is getting temporary locked, something we are only allowed to do if the profile become a part of a conflict with edit-wars and bad merges.
