Hello everyone I was wondering if someone could help me out and look this couple up on French records?
Marie De la Montagne (Smith)
Birth: estimated before 1621
UK
Immediate Family:
Wife of Abel De la Montagne
Mother of Jehan De la Montagne
Abel is my 9th great grandfather. But I have only found one record to him on Ancestry.com. I will put Jehan's wife here as well. I am unsure if they were somehow related to royalty or te Lords in France for I don't speak French, so for me it is difficult to find the info. Please get back to me when you can here on geni.com or on my personal email at. malodie_anderson@yahoo.com
Yours,

Hello Malodie,
Triggered by the "Jehansdotter" above, I looked at the profiles on Geni, You'll see that a Scandinavian has entered the data, probably using some Scandinavian genealogy site - because there would be no such thing as "Jehansdotter" in France (but it is obviously the Scandinavian way of saying "daughter of Jean"). So, they are not reliable names to search for anywhere else.
Where are these "de la Montagne" supposed to be from? Do you suspect they relate to de la Montagne in New Netherland? You're mentioning the UK, and given the timeframe these might be related to French refugees that came through Leiden (NL) to the UK but also to New Amsterdam.
Please give some more clues as to the family context? If the above may be correct, I can dig into the original Leiden records.
Marie De la Montagne is your 10th great grandmother.
