I have traced the McClue family name back to an ancient gaelic warrior called Ferchard Lech,who lived in that part of Scotland called Dalriada.He lived about the time of the Roman occupation of Britain.One of his offspring,called Fergus,became king of Dalriada and killed the famous old king Cole or Coyle at the battle known as the battle of the bloody burn, near Tarbolton in Ayrshire.
The McClue's were tennant farmers to the Stuarts of Appin and as such are entitled to wear the Stuart of Appin tartan.
