I've been asked by email from Philip Whitaker Remare to look into this man's parents.. he said there is no proof that his father is a english man and has marked the father as proof to john needed..
As it is I have a few irons in the fire right now and can not devote full time research to this.

Private Erica Howton I've opened up this discussion thread to see what we can come up with. He debunked the suggestion that i connected to him thru ly thomas tracy and I've looked thru the line and concluded that he is right there is not enough work to support who the father and mother are of john whitaker sr He claims that dna has suggested it is english in origin again correct me on that fact if i am wrong..

Thanking all of you for your sincere concern and assistance. This is a rather well document branch esp in the Harford Co. Maryland area. I am aware that there is always new research showing up. The very earliest I have found is in St. Mary's County and a "suggestion with out proof" that he,John Whitaker, may have moved up from Virginia. There was a second Whitaker thought not to be related, in St. Marys at the time.

Being quite frank, I would really and truely be delighted if there were proof of even the Virginia connection much less the English one. I did at one point not that there was a property in Burnely England named " The Holme" and that I noted a patteren of very many of the same names were used as were used on the American side. There is if I am not mistaken another Whitaker line which drifted down from Pennsylvania of which I know little. With all of this in mind and research available I stop my line at John who married a woman known simply as Catherine--

I am not trying to creat a problem with this- in fact I am hoping to help hone a finer Geni with high quality genealogical science and little question of what is on Geni. This is one of the two largest hobby intersts in America from what I once read- the two being Genealogy and gardening. Thank you- and no I am not wanting to put pressure on but rather spot light an area which may involve many other lines than my own and thus be helpful... I appreciate so much the care and comradsmanship beng shown by all who have replied... Thank you , Philip

Your help on Geni is very much sought and appreciated, Philip.

Michael, thank you so much for getting this organized so we can get cleaned up and documented.

The profile overviews (citations) and attached documents are awfully skimpy. Maybe we can focus some now on getting the descendant line better documented.

I've made unknown parent "placeholder" profiles for

John Charles Whitaker, I

And disconnected from the speculative parent of Aaron Whitaker

Vigilance may be needed by profile managers to ensure the unproven relationship is not restored in error.

Also a question. I added some will data to John's profile overview and it appears his surviving widow was Elizabeth. Is that so? And if so, we need a new Geni profile to represent her.

Don't think he came up the Eastern Shore - he's not in the Miles Files. In fact they don't show any Whitakers until the 19th century. So presumably he came up the mainland side, if he did move on up.

"John Whitaker is believed to have been an indentured servant arriving in Virginia about 1690"

Michael how would you use this relationship path to validate the tree?

In other words, what is the exact connecting point between the Whitaker tree & "your" tree?

i was asking since he seemed to know his stuff on the whitaker line. that's all. Matthias Farnsworth, I is now how i connect to john this time around..

i was asking about the whitiaker's on the line that connects me to him if that was a valid connection between us as he's a expert on those.

Michael - he would know the Whitaker line, not necessarily the Farnsworth connection. The Geni algorithm detected it. So again - how does it validate the ancestry of anyone?

The algorithm is only as good as your links. I've got a known bad link that, if removed, would break at least half my alleged connections.
