I need plenty of help filling in all the dates on this project.

http://www.geni.com/projects/Jewish-Celebrity-Birthdays/17534

Yes, I have the same question. I think I see how to add a profile to the project. How do I connect the profile to that person's birthday? Like here's my first one -- Hank Greenberg: January 1.

This is a great idea. I can see all the famous Jews I am related to. Thanks.

1. Who is considered a Jewish Celebrity (eligible for this project) by GENI's Standard?
A. Both Parents Jewish.
B. Only Mother Jewish?
C. Either Parent Jewish?
D. Convert?
Personally I accept any of them....but I reject anyone who says they are NOT Jewish.

2. Does the person already have to be on a GENI Tree?
2. If not can we just add the birthday or do we need to add a profile also?
3. Exactly what's the procedure?

I don't want to be too restrictive. It should be a fun list.

If the person is NOT on Geni then make his name NOT bold (no ''' around the name). But best to add folks on Geni or create their profile.

Anyone collaborator can edit the project page to add people. The more the merrier.

I'm not a Geni "collaborator" but I'd like to add a name to this project of someone whose profile is already on the Geni tree. What's the procedure?

I have sent you an invitation to join the project.

Once your are a collaborator on the Celebrity Jewish Birthdays you will be able to add profiles or names to the respective birth dates through the EDIT facility.

I will send you a PM with an explanation. It's really quite simple.

Some of the people I have added are already on Geni, but I do not know how to put their names in bold. Can anyone tell me what to do about that? Thanks for any help!

I will send you a PM, its quite simple.

I'm sorry, but I really don't understand how to add the names. I'd like to help. Could someone please explain what to do, so everyone will know? Thanks.

To edit a project overview:

Go to the project overview page.
Click the "edit" hyperlink.

Then find the date on the index.

Now you're going to "alias" the link so its clickable & in bold.

1. Copy & paste a link to the Geni profile (the www.Geni.[ID] from your browser address bar).

2. Make one space, then type the display name you want to use.

3. Select (highlight) the entire phrase - the Geni URL & the typed name. Press the (world globe) icon on the formatting tool bar. This surrounds the phrase with two brackets [[http://www.Geni.com/profileID I am a celebrity birthday]]

Alternately, you can type the brackets in manually.

4. Select (highlight) again, and this time, press the B (for bold) icon on the formatting toolbar.

Don't forget to save your work.

And this is how to add a profile to a project (not the indexing of the overview page we just did above)

Adding Profiles to a Project

Profiles are added to projects when they fall within the purpose of the purpose of the project. You can add profiles either (1) using the project overview, or (2) using the profile.

To add profiles to a project using the project overview:

Go to the project overview page.
Click the Actions button.
On the drop-down menu, click Add Profiles.
To add profiles to a project using the profile:

Go to the profile.
Click the Actions button.
On the drop-down menu, click Add to Project.
You must be a project collaborator to use this method.

Profiles cannot be added to a project unless their privacy is set to Public.
Any collaborator of a project can edit any profile in the project.

Thanks -- this is very helpful.

+1

I made a mistake - it's one bracket. :(.

Most of this is from the project page http://www.geni.com/projects/Working-with-Projects/12487

Perhaps I'll add in the "aliasing" section?

The double brackets escaped me until it was pointed out.

Erica, I find it quicker not to move into the formatting mode, then there is no need to highlight the address

Select date
Open bracket
Paste the copied address bar
Three apostrophes (to bold) add chosen name, repeat apostrophes
Close bracket
Then SAVE
