Astrid Jakobine Olsen (Nilsen) - Letters from Norway

Astrid Jakobine Olsen is her mother, but she died when Eleanore was very young. she also had a sister called Astrid. Astrid Mary Hansson. we think she is still alive in sweden.

How sad. I always heard that my grandmas mom died very young. And my grandma came on a ship to the US and was adopted. Also heard that her and grandpa met or lived in Utah usa. Im not sure. Ill ask my dad later today if he has any more info.I always asked grandma when she was alive. I would much rather inherit my Norwegian history than any amount of money. Thanks again!!

yes, it's actually a sad story.. your grandmas mother died when she was 28, on the way to the hospital. looks like it was the heart. their father dor some reason couldt take care of the kids and they got split up. Eleanor with a mormonefamily travelled to utah, under the name ellinor totland, 10 years old (you can see records on her profile timeline). my grandpa and their brother Harry Adolf ended up on two orphanages and Astrid was adopted to a family in an other city. it was hard finding everyone in old churchbooks, i wish i had asked my grandpa more when he was alive, but he didn't like to talk about it.

I'm missing a lot on Eleanores timeline, so feel free to add if you have anything:)
