James Alexander Butz/Butts - Butts vs. Butz

Currently, our family does not know who Jame's father is. What we do know is that before 1930 the last name was spelled Butz, and the family is originally from the Butztown, Pennsylvania area. We have only been able to find records using the matrilineal lines which lead back to Baden, Germany. The patrilinieal lines also lead back to Germany. The Butz/Butts line consists only of families from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France and later on the Wilsons/Murphy's from Ireland.
The other Butts families, listed here in this tree, are from an English line and are not biologically related, also many listed here are of African-American descent, also not biologically related to this current line. The English Butts lines are from "The South" and given the social-political conditions of the 1800's, German immigrant families would not have associated themselves with them and were enemies at times.
