I have been researching for 40 + years. I am frustrated when I see "guesses" and another person's children or wives added to correct information. I can refuse to connect but that does not help to make a correct Geni entry. What is the correct way to handle a discussion of this. I usually just give up because the person will say that it must be right because so many people have that incorrect information.. Does Geni collect "proofs" or just pedigree type information?
Are you responding to Nelly Leoni? She was great grandmother to my 2 children and I knew her personally from 1969 until her death 20 years ago. Robert Leoni sr. did not have a daughter lynette. Lynette was married to John Leoni who is deceased. She has remarried. Robert and Edna Leoni had 2 sons. No daughters.
I'll be general.
Geni is a layered application and based on the contributions of a few - or the many.
- There is a "source" tab to upload documents and cite known facts
- There is an over view (about) that's free text for notes
- There are records available (by additional subscription) from the partnership with MyHeritage
- There is a curating team who assist in keeping validated profiles correct: see http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Curators
I know what you mean about "copy & paste" genealogy!
