Note the father's name is listed Selah W. Mapes who married Sarah Ann Brooks. The dates match up.

If I read this right, that means Erastus Mapes was a sibling, Erastus' son Seth had a son Alsop had a son Hiram had a son Leo had a son James E. and who was my father. Erastus would be my Great(x4) Grandfather.

I found some data my father left that indicates I am descended from a different Erastus. Though given the relatively small population back then its curious having 2 named similar (of unusual name) that existed relatively concurrently

However, the question still remains that Wiki article shows a Selah Mapes as the father of Carl Edgar Mapes.
