Actually, there is a mistake about the family tree for Goderic, he is not related to the De Ries family, and did not come with the conqueror, as your birthplace for him shows, he was born in Norfolk, in Danelaw. I think the mistake started with family tree researchers who took the title 'Dapifer', as a surname, whereas in fact it was a title or occupation, and not a hereditary one. The De Ries dapifer was called Eudo, and probably was the son of Hubert, he was notorious under the Conqueror. for excessive land acquisitions and the scouring of the North. Goderic was settled in the area of Calthorpe and his ancestors took that name, not the name 'Dapifer' as shown above.
