Hi trying to find out if Hannah Snow who married Lt. James Nash (parents: Jacob Nash of Weymouth, MA and Abigail Dyer (Thomas Dyer & Agnes REED). Lt. James Nash's first wife was supposedly Hannah SNOW. They had a daughter who is my direct ancestor named Hannah NASH ( born: 4 Sep 1701, married one Christopher Dyer,27 Nov 1725. He was the son of William and Joanna (CHARD) Dyer. She died 1760. He died 11 Aug 1786 in Abington, MA (sources of information: (1)(http://genforum.genealogy.com/nash/messages/720.html, retrieved on March 26, 2014 at 4:25pm), (2) Nash Family of Weymouth, MA by Richard Benson, published by Newbury Press (NEHGS), Boston 1998.
Any help anyone could provide me would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!
An Ancestry tree has a sourced profile with parents
Mark Snow 1628 – 1694

I'll post back the Geni profile if any.

Here she is on Geni
Hannah Nash I will add the above citations to her profile.
Children of James and Hannah :
James NASH b 22 June 1700 died young
Hannah NASH b. 4 Sept 1701 m. Christopher Dyer, a housewright, 27 Nov 1725. He was the son of William and Joanna (CHARD) Dyer. She died 1760. He died 11 Aug 1786 in Abington.
So let's verify the marriage & Death record - but
I'd say you're pretty close to proving Mayflower descent.
Dean - I was looking for verification of her death record so we could determine is Hannah Snow died as Nash or Snow (a way to verify the marriage).
What I've found is this citation:
!BIRTH: `Stephen Hopkins MFIP' by John D Austin (1989) p9 -Hannah not mentioned in mother's will of 21 Dec 1703 BIRTH: `Mayflower Families-Stephen Hopkins' by John D Austin (1992) p15 -"b. Eastham...16 Sept. 1679; not mentioned in mother's will of 1703; n.f.r."

Therefore it appears to me it's circumstantial proof of her death, and we do not see her married elsewhere. So the question remains - is this the Hannah who married Lt. Nash?
There may be no extant record.
The will of Jane (Prence) Snow (1703) is here:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=44897405
- no Nash listed. Would surviving child Hannah NASH b. 4 Sept 1701 have been noted?

Where does the attribution of [SNOW] as the maiden name of his 1st wife Hannah originate?
One argument against her being the daughter of Mark Snow is location. Weymouth is not particularly close to Orleans.
Are there other ties between the Nash & Snow families?
Erica,
Thanks for getting back to me re: Hannah Snow. I do know that Nicholas Snow had two brothers, William Snow who married Rebecca Browne, Peter Browne's Daughter, and Anthony Snow who married one of Richard Warren's Daughters. I think William Snow was out of Bridgewater, MA ( sorry about the spelling.) I'm unsure where Anthony was located in Massachusetts. This is frustrating because I have a feeling Hannah very well might be descendant of the Mayflower but I can't prove it unless I find her ancestry. Thank you for all you're hard work.
Dean
Here's Anthony Snow and William Snow, Sr.
- William's daughter Hannah is 20 years too old to be "your" Hannah.
This Benjamin Snow of Bridgewater had no known daughter Hannah (or Anna, or Joanna).
I would be looking into Nash records to see which Snow families appear. I can see why there are trees identifying Mark Snow's daughter: she seems to be the only Hannah of the right dates.
So my question would be:
Where did the possible Snow surname originate?

Hi Erica and Hattie,
Erica, I am wondering if Snow was actually her surname as well. I have tried to find her birth and marriage record in Weymouth, MA. They could not find anything. So my best bet is to search in the state archives of MA and see if there is anything on Hannah. Hatte, very cool that you're a Mayflower descendant. Thanks to both of you for you're help. Now all I need to find out is my Church line...as the surname Church is attached to Richard Warren via his Daughter, Elizabeth Warren.
Dean
Dean if you work on the thought that the Hannah you seek "could" have been Mark Snow's daughter, think that the marriage record is lost - I know that there have been fires etcetera. So you could rule in / rule out by tracking Nash / Snow family affiliations from wills, probate, property transfers, businesses ....
Lots of Church lines, go slowly & carefully. :):)
Hi Mr. Kremmel,
I appreciate your sending me me the above links. I found them very helpful.
I still have no definite proof that Hannah Nash that married Christoper Dyer was as the product of one Hannah SNOW and James NASH. Or any document that proves Hannah Snow was was of Mayflower stock. I wish I could nail down this information as it was be very helpful indeed.
I appreciate your time today Sir.
