Date and length of reunion

June 2016 seems like a good time because although people like to be home for Christmas there is just too much going on to enjoy a reunion totally. If it's in June we will be able to focus on the reunion. Go Earle Go you are the right person to plan the reunion.

Thanks; I'm ready to get moving on the planning, and I'm sure there are enough people to help with the details. I still need to be sure of the date. I know some people are in favour of Christmas, while some like June. I don't see any other comments on the topic, so I don't know what to do. I need to hear more voices, so that I know there's interest in having the reunion. Once we decide we're having it, and what month/year, it'll be easier to move forward with the ideas and planning. Let's hear from the family!

We had the chat on Skype, and after a lot of discussion between the family in Canada and the UK, we came up with a date for the reunion. We couldn't do Christmas because of high costs and competition for rooms and cars. We also couldn't do June because schools in the UK do not let out until July. We went with February 2017, which would give folks a chance to save for the trip, and also give us the advantage of lower airfares. If plans work out, everyone should expect to check in at their hotels by Saturday February 18th, 2017. There will be a group Skype call on the last Sunday of each month until then, between the relatives in St. Kitts and Nevis, Canada, the UK and USA. The call time will be at 1:00p(Canada/USA), 6:00p (UK). For St. Kitts and Nevis, the call time in Summer would be 1:00p, and in Winter, 2:00p.

Yes, it was good to discuss the date and length of reunion. One week would be enough so that those who want to catch up with friends and other family on the Islands can do so either side of the reunion week.

Possible events discussed were: sports afternoon, a picnic, beach and barbecue, music event, visit to Brimstone Hill, Rain forest. We made a good start to the discussion.

Would be good to hear what other events we should choose from! Post your ideas here so we can have a good range to choose from.

I think June 2016 is great. One week in st kitts and one week in nevis. Lets do a beach picnic anywhere.

Hi All....The first skype call was very exciting and pretty productive by selecting the date of the reunion .....February 2017. Looking forward to the next Skype call. Bring all your ideas, plans etc...there is a lot to do while in SKB ..... We also mentioned the catamaran cruise (booze cruise). There is zip lining, the train ride, the strip in frigate bay, reggae beach for a picnic, Nevis day trip, sports day UK vs Canada vs US etc....island tours - a lot of changes in recent years, I have connections with the Tangerine man...he does island tours and has an open back truck that seats about 20 people. If any of you have connections bring them forward....ok, chat soon! :-). One last thing we should look into everybody getting a t-shirt made that says Warner Reunion February 2017..... What do u think?

I like the t-shirt idea. One of us could design something, and the people in each country could have them silkscreened. What about having the flag of each country on the t-shirt along with the SKN flag? They would be small flags of course. I have a connection with Periera Tours for the rainforest tour. I spoke to him already; saw him at Pearson Airport on March 13th. We should do more in Nevis than a day trip; there are relatives living there, and I want to do some research at the Nelson Museum. The research never stops...

I'd like to get more people chatting online, creating a bond across countries. The Geni website does not do instant communication; there is an occasional newsletter instead. We are doing the Skype chat on the last Sunday of every month at 1:00 pm Eastern time(North America), which is 6:00 pm BST(Britain). If you don't use Skype, it's easy to set up, and is free. For smartphones and tablets, there is a free app. Once you have it, sign in every Sunday at the right time, and connect to somebody on Skype. That person can connect you to the group chat.

The other thing to mention is Yahoo Groups chat. This is an instant email exchange service which allows an email sent to the group address to be instantly transmitted to everybody in the group. The message would pop up on mobile devices instantly, and allow for instant replies. I opened a group in February, but there was not much interest. The group is still there, but dormant. Guys, the Skype call went through on Sunday April 27th, and went very well. We discussed the length of the reunion, and agreed that it should be one week in length. Everyone is free to arrive a week or two earlier or later, if they would like a longer vacation in SKN. Hello, family! I got a message from Skype to update the Skype app on my mobile, so I can take part in group video calls. Apparently, group video calls are now free, and all we need to do is have the most recent software. For your mobile, get the latest app from the app store, and for your desktop/laptop, go to www.skype.com and download/update the software. Hi, all: We had the group family chat on Skype yesterday. We decided to reach out to Wendy and Kenneth in SKN to help with on-the-ground planning for the 2017 reunion. Some of us may be there in February 2015, and we can all get on the same page regarding the reunion plans.

The monthly Skype chat is supposed to happen on Sunday July 27th at 3:00 pm. I'm suggesting that we postpone this one to Sunday August 3rd at 3:00 pm. There will be a large gathering of family here in Mississauga on that day, and if we chat on Skype on that day, a lot of relatives would see each other for the first time. I suggest that Andrea Williams initiate the group chat from her laptop, so that I can use my iPad outdoors and pass it around. Is everyone okay with this idea?

Hello, Family... I'm back from my sojourn into local politics! My candidate became Mayor of the city, my nemesis got un-elected from my union, and I'm free again. Back on the hunt. I am looking for information on anyone with the last name Warner or Baker who were living at 325 Gold Street in Brooklyn, New York, circa 1923. Lemuel stated that his uncles were living at that address, but I don't know if they were maternal or paternal uncles. If you have info on how to get this info, please let me know. Thanks.
