Mary Norton (Unknown) - Francis Norton of Wethersfield and Milford and his wife Mary

This Mary Norton appears to have been confused with Mary Houghton, the wife of Francis Norton of Charlestown and of William Stilson of Charlestown.

I am a descendant of the Wethersfield / Milford Norton family and noticed some discrepancies today and starting digging. There are good sources for Mary Houghton, wife of Francis Norton of Charlestown (Savage, Torrey, and NEGHS publications). She is apparently NOT the same person as the wife of Francis Norton of Wethersfield / Milford.

In case any of you are descendants of either of these families or otherwise have an interest in these families, I wanted to post a discussion to make sure my work to differentiate and document these two Norton families includes anything else you can contribute.

It appears that Francis Norton of Charlestown had only daughters (Abigail, Mary, Deborah, Elizabeth, Sarah). Savage names their husbands.

Francis Norton of Wethersfield and Milford had a daughter, Mary, who married Joseph Northrup. They are my 8th great grandparents. There may have been a son, Francis, but he's not mentioned in for instance Families of Early Milford, Connecticut (Susan Abbott).
