Darnell or Dernell Hoo (nee Canmore) lived from 1215 to 1238, the year she gave birth to her only son Robert Hoo (1238-1310).
Her husband was the much older Alexander Hoo (1166-1241).
When Robert was born Darnell/Dernell was 23 years old and Alexander was 72! My personal belief from my research is that 'Devorguilla' is a different person to this Darnell/Dernell.
Darnell/Dernell is suspected to be an illegitimate daughter of King Alexander II of Scotland (1198-1249) and Isabella, Countess of Atholl (1190-1236). Infidelity and bastard children were very common.
Illegitimate daughters would never have been recognised in these times.
