Just wanted to note that there is disagreement in online trees that Zachariah Brackett, Sr. married Hannah Libby, with several sites identifying her as Hannah Rolfe, born c1684 in Hampton, NH, USA and died Feb 16 1741 in Hampton, NH, USA that were married on Dec 1 1707. I don't know which is correct - she's not my ancestor, just happen to connect a branch into one of her children - but it's worth investigating and documenting in a curator note and the about section the verification of the identity.

Looks to be a case of disputed ancestry. Normally I'd go with placing both options into the Also Known As field and then leaving the birth name blank (with the presumption that there isn't a primary source), but there seems to be an assertion for her parentage. If someone comes along and provides a stronger (preferably primary source-backed) assertion for Rolfe, or a source for where the Libby name came from if it is in fact a myth, I'll probably leave it as is, while ensuring that Rolfe is in the Also Known As field for the time being, maybe with a note in the About section asking for primary sources on this one.

Correcting myself, this is definitely the wrong wife. Sorry Ben!

From http://www.cyberancestors.com/cummins/ps01/ps01_065.htm

Zachariah son of Capt. Anthony and Susannah (Drake)Brackett. All the children of Zachariah were baptized on 2 Aug 1719. Sources: History of the Town of Hampton, NH 1638-1882, Joseph Dow, Vol. I pp614&615.

Marriage to Hannah Rolfe, Certificate of Marriage, State of MA, Town of Newbury, MA VR;
Brackett Genealogy, H. I. Brackett, 1907, page 71.

Once the correct wife is moved over I can go into Mass VR. But this compiler is quite reliable - if he says so, so it is.

Hello -- I would like to go ahead and correct the errors in this profile. My data shows the following (supported by the "Genealogical Dictionary of ME & NH"]: [pg. 431] "Hannah Libby [dau of Anthony] m. in Hampton, 9 Jan. 1719/20, Joseph Marston." No reference whatsoever to her marrying Zachariah Brackett...

[pg. 103] "Zachariah Brackett [son of Capt. Anthony and Susannah (Drake) Brackett], b. Hampton, 20 Jan. 1682, farmer.... He m. 1st, at Newbury, 1 Dec. 1707, Hannah Rolfe, living 1736; 2nd (int. 16 Feb. 1741), Mary Ross from Ireland; her estate administered 1793. 11 ch.

If everyone is OK with me doing this, I will separate Zachariah Brackett from Hannah Libby, and make him the husband ONLY of Hannah Rolfe of Newbury, and then Mary Ross from Ireland. I will then make Hannah Libby [dau. of Anthony] the wife of Joseph Marston, who was b. in Hampton, 27 Jan. 1693, the son of Ensign Samuel and Sarah (Sanborn) Marston.

My original notes on these families came from a review of Hampton, NH birth and marriage records many years ago.

Let me know if you agree with this...

I agree, Robert.

Sounds good to me. Make sure to add curator notes to the profiles to avoid future confusion and perhaps reference this discussion. :)

Thanks, Erica and Jeff! Will work on this later today.
