Just ran across this article I'm bookmarking here for further reading - actually the whole site looks interesting!

Does anyone have the link for the Hudsons Bay Company employment cards ?
Re Reference material: One location which I have visited personally and gleaned fur trading information not otherwise available in print or on the Internet is the site of Fort Temiskaming (French: Témiscamingue). Through it National Historic Sites and Monuments Board Canada has designated this site as one of national historic significance. A brief introduction is featured online at

In case anyone is still looking for this information, the biographical sheets of HBC employees can be found here:https://www.gov.mb.ca/chc/archives/hbca/biographical/
I also find this a useful site: http://www.redriverancestry.ca/
