Can the birth and death location not be replaced with the correct term - concentration camp?

Place of death is stated as :

Refugee Camp, Brandfort, Lejweleputswa, Free State, South Africa

Cause of death:

Convulsions lived only for 2 hours -

So I am not sure what you want changed - the death certificate indicate convulsions as the cause of death. Place of death clearly show it was a concentration camp.

How do you relate to my uncle/aunt - sadly have not find any indication on his/her sex on any documentation. My granny has passed on and she was the youngest of all the siblings.

Hello Willa, growing up I was aware of my Dutch ancestry, but more influenced by my British ancestry. Twenty six years ago I started tracing my family roots and have over the years since become far more proud of my Dutch ancestry than of my British. This has lead to many "discussions" with people and a few of those quite heated. There is an incredible arrogance when it comes to the reasoning away of British responsibility and guilt in Southern Africa and the term "refugee camp" is one of the dumbing down terms I have come to detest. Our families were interred against their wills in concentration camps and vast numbers of women and children were in effect murdered by the British in an attempt to force the Boer men to capitulate. They were political prisoners, not refugees.

The British were quite happy to try and convict Nazis for what they did to the Jews, but how many British were tried and convicted for what they did to our families? Much of South African history has been written by the British and written in such a way as to expunge their guilt.

Being of 1820 Settler descent as well Willa, I was brought up on large doses of anti-Boer rhetoric and it is now a matter I have become quite passionate about, so forgive me for the plug.

Nothing to forgive, I am also passionate about my family heritage and what we went through and where we came from.

I too feel that the Queen and England should make right what they have done - I am a second generation outside the camp and can tell you - it is still felt!! Families are destroyed!!

Do you relate to this uncle/aunt of mine? And is the profile okay with you??

Thank you for speaking up and letting me know how you feel - much appreciated.
