There has been some private discussion, which many of you have received, on several William Bond profiles that I'd like to move into the public forum, so that others can join in and we have a good record of the research / decisions taken.

Woodman Mark Lowes Dickinson, OBE kicked off the discussion with concern that William Bonde, of Erth was improperly merged with William Bond. I proceeded to disentangle the two families.

For tagging purposes and reference, we have:
* William Bonde, of Erth as the son of Thomas Bond, of Saltash & Elizabeth Bond who married Jane Bonde
* William Bond as the son of Richard Bond of Earth & Agneta Bond

At the time, we had William Bond married to Elizabeth Boe. This was incorrect. After finding that Elizabeth Boe was the 3rd GGM of a claimed profile, I did further research and found that this timeline was off and she was married to William Bond born 1790, about 300 years later. So I fixed that.

Next we come to Sir William Bond (of Buckland) who married Dionise Bond. At the time we had him as the child of William Bonde, of Erth of Cornwall & Jane Bonde. There was some doubt as to if the William Bond of Buckland was the son of the Cornish William Bond. While some sites have those parents, others have him as the son of William Bond, grandson of William Bond listed above (son of Richard Bond of Earth & Agneta Bond). So for now, I've disconnected Sir William Bond (of Buckland) until further discussion can take place. I created a new father, William Bond, that might be merged at some point.

I reached out to the Facebook Page "Bond Family Deep Ancestry" to see what they have. Here is the discussion, but note that the posts are out of order (not sure why). https://www.facebook.com/BondFamilyDeepAncestry/posts/1799018988707...

Any additional research or documentation that you can provide would be helpful.

Linda Cooper-Smith Thank you for all your time and research has been very helpful. I started working on my tree in Ancestry, I became concerned my sources weren't connected to the correct Bond. I deleted all the Bonds and their spouses, etc., and started again. It became more and more apparent that much of my confusion revolved aroung the repetition of the first names, i.e. Thomas, William, Richard. All from different generations but for a newbie who was starting her tree, it was confusing. I was attaching each and every hint that appeared. I'll definitely check out your Facebook group and read the discussions there.

Diana Stannard I am very interested in your research of William Bond born 1493 and married to Dionise Bourman. They are my 11th Great Grand Parents. From research I have done and an uncle in the Morman Church, I believe that William of Buckland is indeed a relative of this family. His son George was Lord Mayor of London. Father of William Bond born 1493 is William Bond born 1467, died 1529 who marrried Agnes Alphew, b1473, d1553. His parents - John b1444 who married Joan Fettiplace, b1445, d1512. His parents - Robert b1428, d1459 who married Mary Joanna Hody, b1430, d1504. His parents - Robert b1393, d1435 who married Catherine de Lutton b1402. Next family back is Robert b1364, d1435 who married Elizabeth de Erth b 1375, d1437. His parents - Richard b1350, d1405 who married Mary ?, b1350, d1415. His father - Richard b1330, d1380 who married Sarah Bragham, b1300, d 1330. His parents - John le Bond, b1280, d1340 who married ? b1285, d 1345. His father ? b1250 on Isle of Wight, d1307.

I have found the names keep repeating through the generations as my Great Grandfather was William John Bond b1838 in Adelaide, South Australia, d 1911 Tekuiti, Waikato, New Zealand. His father, Phillip Thomas and mother, Carloine Hatton Neate emigrated to Australia in 1837.

I hope all this makes sense and I would be interested in your comments on this.

Regards
Diana Stannard
