Hello!
I am not sure if i am on the right place but I will be grateful if someone can provide me any information, data for Macura family in Poland. I belong to one of the branch of Macura clan in ex-Yugoslavia region and we are very interested for genealogical and ethnological data for those in Poland.
Dziękuję
Hello Aleksandar,
I'll try to find out some about that surname. So far I found an interesting data - http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/macura.html - it's a map showing where in Poland that surname exists. Out of 1506 people named Macura, exactly 924 are in Cieszyn area (about 1200 in a few 'gmina's' in southern Poland). Therefore it looks to me, that this surname could come to Poland through Czech Republic (where this surname also exists, most probably as .
I even found a website with little info about priest Zbigniew Macura from... Cieszyn. There's also his e-mail address.
Best wishes,
Karol
Thank you Karol, but I am already familiar with this link. I am more interested in books where I can find data about first Macura settlers in southern Poland (Silesia) - authors, titles etc.
I am looking for those information, not only because I belong to Macura clan but because I am an associate of Portal Poreklo (www.poreklo.rs) and we currently work on a project about origins and migrations of Macura clan. We are already collect all info about Macura in serbian ethnology books, we made Y-DNA tests.... Now we want to make connection with Macura in Poland, Czech R., Slovakia, Ukraine and Greece (Y-DNA test is highly recommended) and confirm or deny legends.
Best wishes
Aleksandar
Hello!
I found a website that says the surname Macura derives from Montenegro and Serbia. At some point the Macura's moved to Croatia and Austria-Hungary. Some families went North and settled in Poland. 36 percent of Macura families live in Poland. many families also live in Bosnia, Slovenia, Germany, and the United States. Here are some Macura family trees on Ancestry. i hope this helps!
