I just finished re-cleaning the false connections between White of Swanborne, White of Somerset and White of Essex.

Please, PLEASE, people, when you see a connection like that, STOP AND DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR SOURCES! Check them IN DEPTH - one pass won't necessarily do it. If you find that ANY of it derives from Emma Siggins White and/or "Genesis of the White Family" - forget it, throw it out, it's bogus. It's faked. It's hogwash.

There is *no* connection between these three families, other than Mrs. White's fevered imagination.

Emma Siggins White was no more a reputable or reliable genealogist than Gustave Anjou. And the sooner we all get to thinking of her in the same disreputable class with him, the better off we will be.

Private User I too have had a user pull the exact same hogwash with me and another user on the southworth\southard line. Mary E. Sayler and i worked on it extensively only to have
some one mess it up.
until customer service enforces the word stop with some people we will continue to have this problem sadly.. I get the feeling it's not the first time you'd had to ask a curator to fix things.

More like the fifth - at least.

The Whites of Somerset aren't (close) relatives of mine, but I sort of appointed myself their unofficial guardian once I learned what Emma Siggins White had done to them. She came *thisclose* to completely obliterating the line in favor of the highborn Whites of Swanborne and Hutton...but there was *just* enough surviving information to allow a partial reconstruction. One huge gap was plugged by a note from the Gascon Rolls about a "John White of Martock" (Somerset) going off to the wars in Aquitaine and getting protection for his lands and livestock while he was away. (Ms. White didn't have access to the Gascon Rolls, which are only now coming online - later rolls may yield more information, one hopes.)

what usally works for me is when they are mp'd ask the curator Erica Howton for example manages some of mine is to stick a little note with out a name in there and say please don't mess with this or in some cases outright lock the whole thing so no one else can edit it and only give vetted permission when a new bit of info is found.. fornately i havn't had to resort to the nucular optiton yet

With the Whites, it doesn't help. There already ARE curators' notes, but apparently no one reads them.
